About Us

Everything you need to build your career in Oceanside is waiting for you at the Career Centre.

We can assist you in searching for work, exploring career options and provide you with up-to-date labour market information. We also support local employers through the many resources and programs we have to offer. Our Resource Room is FREE and available to all residents of the Parksville/Qualicum area who are seeking employment. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm and open until 6:00pm on Wednesdays. We are located at #110-198 East Island Highway in Parksville, right across from the Community Park.

When you visit us, you can expect friendly and personalized services to support your employment-related goals. Whether you meet one-to-one with an employment consultant, participate in a job-search, skills-development, career-decision-making workshop or use self-serve resources, we have something just for you! As a job seeker, you will have access to computers, printers, faxing, photocopying, job-search-related Internet access, and telephone messaging services. Our team want you to be successful in your job search!

At the Career Centre we also offer keyboarding practice and assessments (Typing Master Pro) for a small fee.

If you are unemployed or are precariously employed and would like to meet with an employment consultant to learn more about the programs and services available to you, please call to make an appointment or drop by our office.  If transportation is an issue, online advising can be made available by contacting us through advising@careercentre.org.

The Career Centre is a project of the Central Vancouver Island Job Opportunities Building Society (CVIJOBS), a non-profit Society that provides work and career related services to residents of the Parksville/Qualicum area.

Our Mission Statement:

Through the expertise of our staff, we deliver employment related services for the benefit of job seekers and employers. As an established non-profit charitable organization, CVIJOBS is committed to social and economic development in the communities it serves.

Purpose:
In accordance with the Charity Act, the purposes of CVIJOBS are to:
  1. Establish, maintain and operate an employment services centre for unemployed and under employed job seekers in our communities. These services can include:a. Career decision making
    b. Skill development
    c. Preparation for job search
    d. Employment maintenance and supports
  2. Create and maintain relationships with employers and community partners to better link job seekers and services with their needs.
  3. Research, compile, maintain and share labour market information with job seekers, employers and community partners.
  4. Identify services gaps/opportunities in our communities and to develop and/or partner in the delivery of employment, training and educational programs.

The Career Centre is a multi-service, non-profit agency working to assist residents in the Parksville / Qualicum Beach area with their job search and career development needs.
