Tell us about your business/organization and what makes you stand out as an employer?
We began building our sawmill in 1995 and started production in 1998. We have never stopped growing. We offer sustainable and renewable building materials from responsibly managed forests.
How many employees do you have?
We are now 70+ employees who mostly belong to the Public and Private Workers of Canada Local 8 union.
What do you look for in a new employee?
Engagement. Engagement is the extent to which people enjoy and believe in what they do, and feel valued for doing it.
What advice would you give someone who wants to work for your organization?
As a team member, your participation in the growth and reshaping of company policies as we grow, is very important to us. We want our culture of long-term commitment and innovation to thrive.
Do you anticipate hiring in the next 6 months? If so, for what types of positions?
In 2021 we started planning for increased production capacity and have already begun pre-construction. In this next year we anticipate significant hiring and training for all sawmill production positions as well as trades people. We promote and train from within but will always need qualified HR, IT and Accounting personnel.
What is the best way for someone to apply if they are interested in working for your business?
